Atlanta, GA – 2 Hurt in Midtown Crash on SB I-75/85 Near Exit 249
Atlanta, GA (April 14, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash with injuries occurred on April 14 on the southbound lanes of Interstate 75/85 just before the North Avenue exit (Exit 249), causing major traffic delays through Midtown Atlanta. The collision happened around 7:12 p.m. in the center lane during a busy evening commute.
According to witnesses and early reports, two vehicles collided in the center lane, resulting in one of the drivers suffering visible head and chest injuries. Bystanders assisted briefly before emergency responders arrived. Atlanta Fire Rescue and EMS units were quickly on the scene, where paramedics treated two individuals for non-life-threatening injuries. One person was transported by ambulance to Grady Memorial Hospital for further evaluation, while another declined transport but was treated on-site for minor bruising and neck pain.
Police temporarily shut down the center lane to allow responders to assist the injured and remove the damaged vehicles. Traffic in the area was heavily impacted, with significant delays reported along the connector heading southbound through Midtown. Tow crews worked to clear the scene, and all lanes were reopened later that evening.
Atlanta police are still investigating the cause of the crash. Contributing factors such as speed, driver distraction, or mechanical failure have not been ruled out.
