Atlanta, GA – Injuries in I-75/85 NB Crash at I-20
Atlanta, GA (May 5, 2025) – A two-vehicle injury crash occurred Monday afternoon, May 5, on northbound Interstate 75/85 at the I-20 interchange (Exit 247), leading to a temporary full closure of all lanes as HERO units responded to the scene.
The crash, which took place around 2:55 p.m., originated in the HOV lane and required immediate intervention to prevent further incidents during a busy period of mid-afternoon traffic. The Georgia Department of Transportation’s Highway Emergency Response Operators (HERO) arrived promptly and blocked all northbound lanes to safely reposition the vehicles involved, clearing the wreckage from the HOV lane to the right shoulder.
Medical personnel evaluated those involved, and at least one individual sustained injuries. They were treated at the scene and later transported to a nearby medical facility as a precaution. Firefighters assisted with the containment of vehicle fluids, and HERO units worked swiftly to restore traffic flow. The incident caused temporary delays in the area, but all lanes were reopened shortly after.
Georgia State Patrol is handling the ongoing investigation and has not yet released the names of those involved. No citations have been issued as of this report.
We extend our best wishes for a speedy recovery to anyone injured in today’s crash.
