Atlanta Car Accidents and the Risks of Driving on I-75/85

Anyone who lives in or travels through Atlanta knows just how hectic the roads can get, especially on I-75/85, also known as the Downtown Connector. This major artery runs through the heart of the city and carries hundreds of thousands of vehicles every day. It’s a vital link for commuters, travelers, and truckers alike, but with that high volume of traffic comes a higher risk of crashes.

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, more than 400,000 vehicles travel through the Downtown Connector daily. With so many cars, trucks, and motorcycles packed into a limited space, often moving at high speeds or stuck in stop-and-go traffic, accidents are almost unavoidable. In 2022, Fulton County alone saw over 45,000 traffic crashes, many of them happening right in the heart of Atlanta.

Nighttime crashes, like the one that happened near University Ave SW, are especially dangerous. Poor visibility, fatigue, and impaired driving can all play a role. In many cases, people are returning home after a long day or night out and may not be fully alert. Others may be speeding to get home quickly or distracted by phones and navigation devices. It only takes a second for something to go wrong.

When someone gets hurt in a crash like this, the aftermath can be overwhelming. Medical bills start piling up. You might have to miss work or lose income altogether. Dealing with insurance companies adds another layer of stress, and often, their first offer isn’t enough to cover the real cost of the accident.

That’s why talking to a personal injury attorney can be so important. We can help you understand your rights, gather evidence, and push back against lowball insurance offers. We can also help you recover compensation for things like:

  • Emergency and long-term medical expenses
  • Lost wages or reduced earning capacity
  • Pain and suffering
  • Vehicle damage
  • Therapy, rehabilitation, or future care

In Georgia, the law allows injured drivers to seek compensation as long as they’re less than 50% at fault. But proving that takes strong evidence and experience, which is exactly what skilled lawyers in our firm bring to the table.
