Auburn Hills, MI – Courtesy Patrol Vehicle Struck on I-75, Two Injured

Auburn Hills, MI (May 24, 2025) – A driver was arrested on Saturday, May 24, after striking a Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Courtesy Patrol vehicle along northbound Interstate 75 near Auburn Hills. According to the Auburn Hills Police Department, the incident occurred when a driver didn’t move over for the MDOT vehicle, which was assisting a stranded motorist on the side of the highway. The patrol truck was marked and had its emergency lights activated at the time of the crash.

Both the driver of the MDOT vehicle and the other motorist sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency personnel responded to the scene and provided medical care. One of the injured was transported to a nearby hospital, while the other was evaluated and treated on-site. The driver responsible for the collision was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving and failure to comply with Michigan’s Move Over Law. The Auburn Hills Police Department has launched a formal investigation.
