Bayshore, FL – Firefighter Injured in Multi-Car Crash on I-75 Involving Bear
Bayshore, FL (June 11, 2024) – A serious multi-vehicle collision on I-75 near Tuckers Grade late Sunday night, June 9th, resulted in injuries to a Bayshore Fire Department firefighter. The incident occurred around mile marker 145, involving several cars and a bear. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), emergency responders from both FHP and the Bayshore Fire Department arrived swiftly at the scene. During their efforts, a firefighter was struck by a vehicle while attending to the emergency. The firefighter was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. As of Monday, his condition remains unknown. The driver involved, Herminio Olvera Sanchez, 43, was arrested on charges of DUI and driving without a license. The bear involved in the collision was pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported among the motorists. The accident remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
