Clayton Co, GA – Injury Crash on I-75 SB at Exit 55

Clayton Co, GA (May 5, 2025) – An injury crash occurred Monday evening, May 5, on southbound Interstate 75 at the Highway 54/Jonesboro Road exit (Exit 55), causing significant delays as emergency crews responded to the scene. The incident, which took place around 5:55 p.m., involved at least two vehicles and blocked all lanes of traffic temporarily.

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), the crash was cleared by Georgia HERO units and local police, who worked quickly to move the vehicles off to the right shoulder. Authorities confirmed that at least one individual sustained injuries, with paramedics evaluating the victims at the scene. The injured party was later transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Thankfully, no life-threatening injuries were reported.

Firefighters assisted in controlling any hazardous materials on the roadway, while officers from the Clayton County Police Department directed traffic around the scene. The highway was reopened shortly after the vehicles were cleared, but delays continued in the area due to heavy evening traffic.
