Clayton Co, GA – One Injured in SB I‑75 Crash at Jonesboro Rd

Clayton Co, GA (April 23,  2025) – An injury car crash on southbound I‑75 at the Jonesboro Rd exit caused significant traffic delays for morning commuters, though the scene was cleared just after 9:30 a.m. The collision occurred around 8:15 a.m., involved a silver sedan and a black pickup truck. According to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), the sedan attempted to change lanes and collided with the pickup, causing both vehicles to spin out of control. The sedan struck the guardrail, while the pickup truck came to a stop in the middle of the highway, blocking two lanes.

Clayton County Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded promptly, assisting the driver of the sedan, a 27‑year‑old Forest Park woman, who was found with a fractured leg, possible internal injuries, and head trauma. She was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition. The pickup truck driver, a 45‑year‑old man from Morrow, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

While emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage and treat the injured, the southbound lanes of I‑75 were partially blocked for nearly an hour. The right two lanes were reopened just before 9:30 a.m. However, heavy delays continued to affect traffic from the I‑285 interchange as drivers crawled through the scene, causing a backlog that stretched for several miles.

Investigations into the crash suggest that distracted driving and improper lane changes were contributing factors. GSP has not confirmed whether any citations have been issued. The incident serves as a reminder to remain vigilant while driving, especially near busy interchanges like Jonesboro Rd.
