Cobb Co, GA – One Person Injured in Two-Car Crash on I-75 SB at Exit 261

Cobb Co, GA (May 8, 2025) – A two-car crash injury occurred Wednesday afternoon on the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 near Delk Rd (Exit 261), slowing traffic through Marietta and resulting in at least one person being hospitalized.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 12:15 p.m. in the center lanes of I-75 SB. Witnesses reported that both vehicles sustained moderate damage, and one driver was reportedly trapped inside their car. Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services responded quickly, using specialized equipment to extricate the individual. Emergency medical personnel treated the injured person at the scene before transporting them to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, including head trauma and chest pain.

Traffic along I-75 southbound was significantly backed up as two lanes were shut down to facilitate emergency operations and vehicle removal. The Georgia Department of Transportation advised drivers to use alternate routes due to heavy congestion lasting more than an hour.

The crash remains under investigation. Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the collision, and no charges have been filed at this time.
