Collier Co, FL – Four-Vehicle Crash on I-75/MM 87 Results in Injuries
Collier County, FL (December 30, 2024) – A multi-vehicle accident involving four vehicles occurred on Monday afternoon, December 30, along southbound I-75 near mile marker 87 in Collier County. The crash, reported around 2:57 p.m., prompted a helicopter response to assist at the scene. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the chain of events began when a 23-year-old Miami man, distracted by his radio, failed to notice the right lane closure marked with orange traffic cones and a road ranger pickup truck with a flashing arrow. The lane closure had been established to assist a disabled pickup truck towing a boat trailer. The Miami man’s SUV collided with the road ranger vehicle, forcing it into the boat trailer and into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer. Both the Miami man and the road ranger driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the crash.
Our thoughts are with those injured, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.
