Collier County, FL – Fatal Crash on I-75 Involving Construction Vehicle
Collier County, FL (December 20, 2024) – A crash on I-75 in Collier County early Saturday morning, December 20, left one man dead and a deputy injured. The incident occurred while a deputy from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) was blocking traffic in response to an earlier crash.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a construction vehicle struck a Road Ranger truck, which then collided with the deputy’s cruiser. The driver of the construction vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputy sustained minor injuries and received on-site medical attention before being transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. The crash caused significant delays on I-75 as emergency crews worked to manage the aftermath and investigate the sequence of events. Authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances leading to the accident.
