Columbia Co, FL – Fatal Accident on SB I-75 Involving Parked Semi-Truck
Columbia Co, FL (March 3, 2025) – A deadly crash occurred early Sunday morning, March 2, on Interstate 75, resulting in the death of a driver after their vehicle collided with a parked semi-truck trailer, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The incident took place at approximately 6:55 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-75. Investigators say the driver of a passenger vehicle attempted to bypass traffic by driving onto the emergency shoulder. Unfortunately, the car crashed into the back of a semi-truck trailer that had already stopped on the shoulder. The collision caused significant damage to the passenger vehicle, and emergency responders arrived on the scene shortly after the crash.
Despite the quick arrival of emergency crews, the driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity as they work to notify next of kin. The semi-truck driver remained on-site and cooperated with law enforcement during the investigation. It is still unclear whether any additional factors, such as speed, distraction, or impairment,t played a role in the crash.
