Dayton, OH – Multi-vehicle Crash on I-75 Leaves Several Injured
Dayton, OH (January 17, 2025) – A serious multi-vehicle collision occurred late Thursday, January 16, on the southbound lanes of I-75 near Needmore Road in Montgomery County, leaving nine people injured. The crash involved a box truck, a passenger van, and a Toyota Corolla. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 11:38 a.m., closing two southbound lanes between Benchwood and Needmore roads. Preliminary investigations suggest that the box truck driver attempted to merge into the contraflow lane, striking the rear of the nine-passenger van. The force of the collision caused the van to lose control, flip multiple times, and damage the barriers separating the lanes. Seven children and two adults inside the van sustained injuries.
Emergency medical responders assessed the injured at the scene, providing immediate care before transporting some to local medical facilities for further evaluation. Fortunately, the occupants of the Toyota Corolla escaped unharmed. The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the incident to determine the exact cause and whether any charges will be filed.
Our thoughts are with those injured, and we wish them a speedy recovery.
