Detroit, MI – Fatal Head-On Collision on I-75 Claims Man’s Life, Female Driver Hospitalized

Detroit, MI (August 26, 2023) – A tragic head-on collision on I-75 in Detroit resulted in the loss of a 39-year-old man’s life and left a 26-year-old Detroit woman critically injured, according to local authorities. The collision took place around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 26th.

Michigan State Police reported that the incident occurred when the young woman, driving a Mitsubishi, entered the southbound lanes of I-75 in the wrong direction. Her vehicle collided with a Ford Fusion, driven by the 39-year-old man, near the Schaefer Highway junction.

Tragically, the male driver of the Ford Fusion was pronounced dead at the crash site. The impact of the collision was severe and left both vehicles extensively damaged.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to provide assistance. The injured woman suffered critical injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and authorities are looking into factors that may have contributed to the wrong-way entry onto the freeway.

Michigan State Police officer Mike Shaw stated that they continue investigating this traffic crash.
