Detroit, MI – Fatal Multi-Car Crash on I-75 Near Mack Ave

Detroit, MI (February 25, 2025) – A tragic multi-car crash occurred on Sunday, February 23, on Interstate 75 near Mack Avenue, claiming the lives of two Oakland County residents and leaving several others injured. The incident happened around mid-afternoon, causing significant traffic delays and a swift response from emergency services.

According to Michigan State Police (MSP), the victims were a 50-year-old man from Novi and a 56-year-old woman from Farmington Hills, both of whom were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders arrived promptly, offering assistance to the injured and securing the area for investigation.

Initial reports indicate that the driver of a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria failed to brake in time, rear-ending a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse, which was either slowing down or had come to a stop in the left lane. The force of the collision pushed the Traverse into a 2022 Kia Telluride, which in turn collided with a 2024 Jeep Wrangler.

Authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the crash, though no charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is ongoing, and traffic was heavily impacted as MSP officials worked to clear the scene and gather evidence.
