Detroit, MI – Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-75, Several Injured
Detroit, MI (February 23, 2025) – A tragic multi-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 75 left two people dead and several others injured on Sunday afternoon, February 23. The accident happened around 3:05 p.m. and involved at least four vehicles, prompting a detailed investigation by Michigan State Police. According to authorities, a 58-year-old woman driving a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria was in the left lane when she collided with a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse that had stopped in traffic. The impact triggered a chain reaction, pushing the Traverse into a 2022 Kia Telluride, which a 2024 Jeep Wrangler then struck.
Investigators noted that the Ford driver did not apply the brakes before the crash. Sadly, two passengers lost their lives at the scene. A 50-year-old Novi man in the Ford Crown Victoria and a 56-year-old Farmington Hills woman in the Kia Telluride were pronounced dead upon emergency responders’ arrival. Several others sustained minor injuries and received medical attention at the scene.
Southbound I-75 remained closed for several hours as police investigated the cause of the crash. Authorities have not yet determined whether speed or impairment played a role.
Our deepest condolences go out to the victims’ families during this grieving time. We also wish a full recovery to those who were injured.
