Detroit, MI – One Critically Hurt in Crash on I-75 at Springwells St
Detroit, MI (November 6, 2024) – A road worker is in critical condition after being hit by a car on I-75 Southbound near Springwells Street in Detroit on Wednesday afternoon, November 6. Michigan State Police responded to the scene around 1:40 p.m. Reports state that a Kia sedan entered a construction zone and struck the worker, who was setting up flares for an ongoing project. The 71-year-old driver from Allen Park allegedly lost control while changing lanes, causing the accident. The injured worker was rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate care and remains in critical condition. Their identity has not been released. Due to the accident, the Michigan Department of Transportation temporarily closed part of I-75 from I-96 to Schaefer Highway. Police are investigating the cause of the collision.
