Detroit, MI – Serious Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-75 Near Warren Ave Causes Injuries 

Detroit, MI (June 24, 2023) – A crash involving a semi-truck and two vehicles resulted in seven people being sent to the hospital and the complete closure of I-75 in both directions on Friday. Among the injured, three individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Michigan State Police, the incident occurred when a 27-year-old driver, traveling at a high speed, collided with the side of the semi on northbound I-75 near Warren Avenue. As a result, the truck driver lost control and struck the median wall.

The impact caused the cab of the truck, with the driver still inside, to flip over the median wall and land on the southbound lanes of I-75. Simultaneously, the 27-year-old driver’s vehicle flipped on its side after colliding with the truck while the semi’s chassis caught fire.

Another vehicle involved in the crash flipped on its side near the burning truck chassis. Fortunately, the tanker carrying approximately 10,000 gallons of fuel did not catch fire. Hazmat crews were present to handle the cleanup of gas and oil spillage.

All the injured parties were transported to a local hospital for further medical evaluation.

The responsible driver, who caused the accident, was cited for careless driving and not having insurance.
