Fort Myers, FL – Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on I-75 near Exit 143 Claims One Life

Fort Myers, FL  (July 30, 2023) – A tragic accident occurred on Sunday, July 30th, on I-75 near Exit 143 (State Road 78-Bayshore Road) in Fort Myers, Florida, resulting in the death of one individual.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident involved a northbound sedan on I-75 in the outer lane. Meanwhile, an SUV was stationary, facing north, on the paved shoulder of the northbound I-75, north of Exit 143.

The sedan driver veered off the road, failing to maintain their lane, and collided with the left rear of the SUV. The impact caused the SUV to rotate and overturn, eventually coming to rest on the grass shoulder.

Tragically, a passenger in the SUV sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to save their life, the passenger was later pronounced dead.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances that led to this devastating collision.
