Fulton Co, GA – Crash with Injuries on I-285 WB at I-85 Causes Major Delays
Fulton Co, GA (May 9, 2025) – A two-vehicle injury crash occurred Friday morning on I-285 WB near the I-85 interchange, causing major delays throughout the morning commute.
According to SKYFOX Traffic and GDOT, the crash took place at approximately 8:00 a.m. and blocked a right lane on I-285 westbound, just before the merge with I-85. Traffic quickly backed up to Riverdale Rd as emergency crews responded to the scene.
First responders from Fulton County Fire and EMS assisted at least one injured individual at the scene. Paramedics transported the injured person to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment. The nature and extent of the injuries have not yet been released. Fire crews and law enforcement coordinated to manage the flow of traffic and clear the crash debris.
Motorists were urged to avoid the area and consider alternate routes such as Forest Pkwy or I-20 until traffic conditions improved. All lanes were eventually reopened, but residual delays continued for some time after the scene was cleared. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.
