Fulton Co, GA – Injury Crash in HOV Lane on I-75/85 NB at Exit 250
Fulton Co, GA (April 22, 2025) – A crash with injuries occurred Tuesday afternoon, April 22, in the HOV lane of northbound Interstate 75/85 just before Exit 250 at 10th Street, causing heavy delays that extended back past the Interstate 20 interchange. The incident was reported at approximately 4:36 p.m. and prompted a multi-agency emergency response due to the volume of traffic and location of the crash.
According to preliminary information from Atlanta traffic authorities, the collision involved two vehicles traveling in the HOV lane during peak traffic hours. The impact caused one of the vehicles to become disabled, partially obstructing the lane and exacerbating delays in the downtown connector area. One person was injured and received on-scene care before being transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Atlanta Fire Rescue and emergency medical services responded quickly to assist with extraction and medical support. Georgia State Patrol officers provided traffic control and began an investigation into the crash, which is believed to have been caused by sudden braking and following too closely in congested conditions.
Despite the delays, authorities were able to safely manage the scene and eventually restore traffic flow. The investigation remains ongoing.
Our thoughts are with the injured individual, and we wish them a full and swift recovery.
