Gainesville, FL – Fatal Motorcycle Collision on I-75 in Alachua County Claims Rider’s Life

Gainesville, FL (August 29, 2023) – A tragic incident occurred on Interstate 75 in Alachua County, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a sedan traveling northbound on I-75 collided with a motorcycle shortly after midnight on Tuesday, August 29th.

The impact caused the motorcyclist to be thrown onto the roadway while the motorcycle itself became wedged beneath the sedan. Unfortunately, the rider was pronounced dead by the first responders at the scene.

In the aftermath of the collision, the sedan continued for approximately 1,500 feet before coming to a halt on the east shoulder of the road.

Tragically, a semi-truck that was following the sedan struck debris from the accident.

Law enforcement is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine its cause.
