The collision was reported at approximately 5:45 a.m., involving two passenger vehicles and a commercial truck. According to Florida Highway Patrol and Hernando County Fire Rescue, the crash occurred when one vehicle abruptly slowed in traffic, leading to a chain-reaction collision. All three vehicles came to rest blocking multiple lanes, with one car partially off the roadway.

Emergency responders arrived quickly and diverted traffic at the SR-50 interchange. One of the drivers sustained minor injuries, including whiplash and arm pain, and was treated at the scene by EMS. No hospital transport was required. Fire crews worked to clear debris and contain a small fluid spill from one of the vehicles. Tow trucks removed the damaged cars by mid-morning, and all lanes were eventually reopened after several hours of cleanup.

Florida DOT urged drivers to avoid the area and expect residual delays.

We extend our best wishes for a full recovery to the injured driver.
