Hernando Co, FL – One Injured in Crash on I-75 SB Near Blanton Rd Exit

Hernando Co, FL (May 6, 2025) – A two-car crash injury occurred early Tuesday morning, May 6, on southbound Interstate 75 just before Blanton Road in Hernando County, resulting in a complete lane closure and an emergency response from multiple agencies.

The crash was reported shortly after 6:00 a.m., and all southbound lanes were closed for an extended period while respondents worked to clear the scene. According to the Florida Highway Patrol and Hernando County emergency services, two vehicles collided under still-undetermined circumstances. The impact left both vehicles heavily damaged, with one partially blocking the shoulder and another disabled across multiple lanes.

Hernando County Fire Rescue arrived on scene along with law enforcement units to assist with traffic control and vehicle removal. Firefighters helped stabilize one of the victims before EMS transported them to a nearby hospital. That individual is believed to have sustained moderate injuries, including a suspected leg fracture and back pain. The other driver suffered minor injuries and was treated on site.

Traffic in the area remained backed up for miles during the morning commute as troopers conducted an investigation. No charges have been filed yet.
