Knoxville, TN – One Killed in Pedestrian Crash on I-75 near Merchant Dr Exit

Knoxville, TN (January 27, 2023) – A pedestrian has died as a result of a crash that took place in the Knoxville area on Thursday evening. On January 26, the Knoxville Police Department was notified that they were needed at the scene of a traffic accident that occurred on Interstate 75.

Preliminary investigations provided by KPD show that at around 6:30 p.m., a pedestrian was walking on the northbound side of Interstate 75 when they were struck by a vehicle just south of the exit for Merchant Drive.

The pedestrian was severely hurt as a result of the crash. Despite the best efforts of emergency medical personnel, the victim died from their injuries.

Emergency crews remained at the scene for nearly 2.5 hours as they worked to clear the road and investigate. The investigations are currently ongoing.
