Lee Co., FL – Man Arrested After Injury Hit-and-Run Crash on I-75 Near MM 131

Lee County, FL (September 2, 2025) – The Florida Highway Patrol arrested a driver following a hit-and-run crash on Monday night, September 1, that left one man seriously injured on Interstate 75 in Lee County.

Troopers reported the accident happened around 9 p.m. in the southbound lanes near mile marker 131. A 24-year-old man from Bonita Springs had pulled his Kia Sorento onto the right shoulder and was attempting to exit the vehicle when a Dodge Ram pickup, driven by 22-year-old Lucas James Ward, struck the driver’s side door.

The impact caused serious injuries to the Bonita Springs man, who was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Centre. His current condition remains unknown. Ward did not stay at the scene and fled south on I-75.

Investigators, with help from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, later located the Dodge Ram on Three Oaks Pkwy. The truck had noticeable right-side damage, and officials said Ward tried to conceal the extent of the damage before being taken into custody.

Our thoughts are with the injured man and his family during this difficult time. Authorities continue their investigation into this hit-and-run crash.
