Lee Co, FL – One Killed in I-75 NB Collision by Daniels Pkwy

Lee Co, FL (April 18, 2025) – A deadly crash occurred on April 18, at the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 near Daniels Parkway, causing the complete closure of the highway and major traffic disruptions throughout Lee County. The collision, which involved at least two vehicles, took place shortly before 5:24 p.m., prompting an emergency response from local fire, EMS, and law enforcement agencies.

According to initial reports, one person was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. A second individual sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to a nearby trauma center. Officials have not disclosed the extent of those injuries, though the victim was reportedly conscious when taken from the scene.

Firefighters worked to contain leaking fluids and clear debris from the roadway while using extraction tools to remove occupants trapped inside one of the vehicles. Traffic units from the Florida Highway Patrol redirected vehicles off the interstate, creating significant backups in the area during peak travel hours.

Northbound lanes of I-75 remained closed for over two hours as investigators reconstructed the scene and towed the wreckage. The cause of the crash is under investigation, and it remains unclear whether speed, impairment, or mechanical failure played a role.
