Lincoln Park, MI – Woman Dies, Officer Injured in Car Crash on I-75 near Dix
Lincoln Park, MI (September 13, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Friday morning, September 13th, when a Michigan State Police trooper was seriously injured, and a 38-year-old woman lost her life in a crash on northbound I-75 near Dix. The crash took place around 8:40 a.m. while a motor carrier officer pulled over a semi-truck on the shoulder for a traffic violation. While parked on the side of the highway, the officer’s patrol vehicle was rear-ended by a car driven by the 38-year-old woman. The impact caused the officer’s vehicle to be pinned between the car and the semi-truck. Authorities reported that the trooper, who was inside his vehicle at the time of the collision, had to be extricated by first responders after being trapped. Both the officer and the woman were rushed to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, the woman succumbed to her injuries, while the officer is currently being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The Michigan State Police are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
