Macon, GA – Fatal Crash on I-75 S at Sardis Church Rd

Macon, GA (September 7, 2024) – A tragic accident on Interstate 75 South near Sardis Church Road claimed the life of a young woman on Saturday, September 7. According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 2 p.m. when 23-year-old Kaitlyn Hermans from Fort Valley, GA, was driving her Toyota Camry and collided with a man driving a Kia Sorento. Emergency personnel responded swiftly to the scene, but despite their efforts, Hermans was pronounced dead on-site by Coroner Leon Jones. Her family has been notified. The driver of the Kia Sorento, whose identity has not been released, was transported to Atrium Navicent Health, where he remains in stable condition, recovering from his injuries.

The crash led to the closure of all lanes on I-75 South, but traffic has since resumed. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash and have urged anyone with additional information to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 and request to speak with a Fatality Investigator.
