Marietta, GA (March 9, 2024) – On early Saturday morning, March 9th, a tragic four-car crash on Interstate 75 north in Cobb County claimed two lives and left two others seriously injured. Marietta, GA - Wreck on I-75 Claims Two Lives, Injures Two near S Marietta PkwyThe accident occurred just south of South Marietta Parkway around 2 a.m., causing all lanes to close until past 6 a.m. as crews worked to clear the wreckage. Preliminary investigations reveal that a 2023 black Chrysler Pacifica was rear-ended by a 2016 black Acura ILX, driven by 33-year-old Carl Moore of Lake Park, Georgia. The impact caused the Chrysler to stop on the right-hand shoulder, while the Acura spun into the northbound lanes. Subsequently, a 2015 black Audi Q5 collided with the Acura, and at the same time, a white 2022 Freightliner Cascadia truck with a 53-foot van trailer crashed into both vehicles. Tragically, Moore and his passenger, James Mettle, were pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders rushed the Audi’s driver and passenger to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with severe injuries. Thankfully, the occupants of the Chrysler and Freightliner escaped uninjured.
