Marion County, FL – Hit-and-Run Claims Life on I-75 near MM 342

Marion County, FL (November 13, 2023) – A hit-and-run crash claimed the life of a 41-year-old Clearwater man early Sunday, Nov 12th, on I-75 near mile marker 342. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that the incident occurred around 4:45 a.m. on northbound I-75.

According to the FHP crash report, the Clearwater man was in the right lane when he was struck by an unknown vehicle traveling north.

The striking vehicle fled the scene, leaving the victim fatally injured. The collision resulted in lane closures for several hours, causing traffic delays south of Ocala.

As of 9 a.m., the FHP reported that the roadway was clear again, but investigations into the hit-and-run continued. The victim’s identity has not been disclosed at this time.
