McMinn Co, TN – I-75 NB Crash With Injuries Blocks Right Shoulder Near Exit 49

McMinn Co, TN (May 13, 2025) – A two-vehicle injury crash occurred on Tuesday morning on the northbound side of Interstate 75 just before the Athens/Decatur (Hwy 30) Exit 49 in McMinn County. The incident was reported at around 8:30 a.m. and took place on the right shoulder of the highway.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), the crash involved two vehicles that collided under unclear circumstances. Emergency responders, including law enforcement, EMS, and fire personnel, were dispatched to the scene to assist the individuals involved and manage traffic conditions. Firefighters helped secure the crash site and worked to remove the damaged vehicles from the shoulder, while officers were present to direct traffic and prevent further accidents.

One person sustained injuries in the collision and was treated by paramedics at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and care. Authorities did not release further details about the victim’s condition at this time.

Although the crash occurred on the shoulder, traffic was slowed significantly as drivers navigated past emergency crews. The Tennessee Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
