Monroe Co, MI – Two Hurt in SB I‑75 Crash After Dixie Hwy Exit 15

Monroe Co, MI (April 23, 2025) – An injury car crash occurred around 11:47 a.m. on southbound I‑75 just after the Dixie Hwy Exit 15, blocking the left lane and creating significant traffic delays in Monroe County. According to Michigan State Police, a silver sedan lost control after hydroplaning in wet conditions and collided with the guardrail, before bouncing back into the left lane where it was struck by a gray pickup truck.

The sedan’s driver, a 28-year-old Monroe woman, suffered moderate injuries, including a broken leg and head contusions. She was carefully extricated by Monroe Fire Department personnel and transported to Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center for further treatment. The pickup’s driver, a 45-year-old Toledo man, sustained only minor scrapes and was evaluated at the scene, declining further medical attention.

First responders and tow operators worked quickly to clear the crash site. The left lane remained blocked for over an hour while debris was cleared and the vehicles were removed from the roadway. Traffic was diverted into the right lane, causing delays in the area. By 1:00 p.m., the left lane was reopened, and the scene was cleared.

Investigators believe the combination of slick roads and driver error contributed to the crash, and a citation for unsafe driving is pending. No alcohol or impairment is suspected.
