Monroe County, GA – Fatal Crash on I-75 near MM 194 Claims Life of Macon Woman

Monroe County, GA (July 18, 2023) – A tragic accident occurred in the early morning of July 17th, on Interstate 75 in Monroe County, resulting in the death of a woman from Macon, Bibb County.

Deputies from Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident near mile marker 194 around 5:00 am. Upon arrival, they discovered a woman, later to be identified as Janiya Pitts, lying on the roadway.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim. Authorities initiated an investigation into the crash, and details surrounding the incident remain undisclosed at this time.

No additional injuries were reported in connection with this tragic accident. However, the investigation is ongoing to determine the cause and circumstances that led to the collision.
