Monroe, OH (June 26, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on I-75 northbound in Liberty Township early Tuesday morning, June 25th, resulting in one fatality and one injury. At around 2:55 a.m., a 2013 Mazda CX-5 inexplicably stopped in the middle lanes of the interstate, prompting its two occupants to exit the vehicle. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, one of the occupants, identified as 21-year-old Damone K. Maston from Dayton, was struck by a tractor-trailer driven by a 47-year-old man from Pennsylvania. Following this, Maston was hit again by another semi-truck. Sadly, Maston was pronounced dead at the scene. The second occupant, a 35-year-old also from Dayton, was transported to Atrium Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities have confirmed that no other injuries were reported in this incident. The exact reasons why the Mazda stopped on the interstate are still under investigation.
Our condolences go out to Maston’s family and friends during this difficult time.
