Pasco County, FL – Five-Vehicle Collision on I-75/MM 277 Leaves Driver Seriously Injured
Pasco County, FL (December 18, 2024) – A severe multi-vehicle collision involving two tractor-trailers and three other vehicles occurred Wednesday morning, December 18, on I-75 near mile marker 277 in Pasco County. The crash, which occurred around 7:45 a.m., left one driver hospitalized with serious injuries, according to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) news release. The incident happened when a 43-year-old Wesley Chapel man changed lanes, moving into the path of a southbound tractor-trailer driven by a 67-year-old Lakeland resident. The resulting impact caused a chain reaction, forcing the Wesley Chapel man’s car into a second vehicle stopped for traffic. That car, driven by a 46-year-old Odessa woman, was subsequently pushed into a pick-up truck operated by a 50-year-old Brooksville man. A second tractor-trailer, driven by a 53-year-old Lehigh Acres man, was also involved as it stood stationary due to traffic. Emergency crews arrived promptly and transported the pick-up truck’s driver to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and treatment of serious injuries. The other drivers reportedly received on-site assessments but did not require hospitalization. Authorities worked to clear debris and investigate the incident. FHP officials are continuing their inquiry into the exact cause of the collision.
Our thoughts are with the injured driver, and we extend our best wishes for a swift recovery.
