Ruskin, FL – Pedestrian Injury Crash on I-75 SB Ramp to SR-674

Ruskin, FL (January 31, 2026) – A pedestrian suffered serious injuries Wednesday evening after a vehicle struck him on an Interstate 75 exit ramp in Hillsborough County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Troopers said the collision happened on the southbound exit ramp from I-75 to State Road 674 in Ruskin.

A 70-year-old man from Michigan was driving an SUV on the ramp at the time. Investigators said a pedestrian entered the roadway and was struck by the vehicle.

Troopers identified the pedestrian as 37-year-old Nathaniel Modglin of Bradenton. Modglin had been reported missing from Manatee County earlier in the week. Family members last saw him Sunday night while he walked northbound along U.S. 41 in Ruskin.

Emergency crews transported Modglin to a local hospital with serious injuries. Officials said his condition remains unknown. Troopers also noted that family members were worried because he did not have his prescribed medication with him.

Authorities have not said why Modglin was on the interstate exit ramp at the time of the crash. No charges or citations were announced.

Our thoughts are with Mr. Modglin and his family during this difficult time, and we hope he receives the care needed for recovery. Florida Highway Patrol continues reviewing the events leading up to the crash, and the investigation remains active.
