Springfield Twp, MI – Fatalities and Injuries in Crash on I-75/E. Holly Rd

Springfield Township, MI (April 16, 2024) – Tragedy struck on Saturday, April 13, 2024, as a chain reaction crash on the northbound lanes of I-75, just south of East Holly Road, resulted in fatalities and injuries. The incident occurred when a driver collided with a group of individuals exchanging information following a four-car crash in Springfield Township. According to police reports, the collision claimed the life of a 24-year-old Alpena native. Additionally, one person suffered a compound fracture and required immediate medical attention, including the application of a tourniquet by Michigan State Police troopers. Another individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The driver responsible for the second crash also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police continue their investigation into the circumstances leading to the tragic event.
