Tampa, FL – Fatal Semi-Truck Crash on I-75 SB Near Exit 62
Tampa, FL (February 19, 2025) – A fatal semi-truck crash occurred early Wednesday at approximately 6:30 a.m., shutting down the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 at the 62-mile marker near Tampa. The incident involved two semi-trucks and resulted in a tragic loss of life and a significant traffic disruption.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash occurred when one of the semi-trucks lost control and collided with the second vehicle. The impact caused one of the trucks to overturn, while the other came to a halt in the middle of the roadway. Tragically, the driver of the overturned semi was pronounced dead at the scene, and the second driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Emergency responders worked swiftly to clear the wreckage, but the southbound lanes of I-75 remained closed for several hours. The road was reopened at 8:20 a.m., but motorists were advised to drive with caution due to the slippery conditions left behind by the crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the accident.
