Tipp City, OH – Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on I-75 Near SR 571
Tipp City, OH (March 4, 2025) – A tragic accident occurred early morning, March 4, on northbound Interstate 75 near State Route 571, resulting in the death of a truck driver. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle crash happened just before 1 a.m. when a 2019 International 600 series semi-truck, driven by 56-year-old Ralph Deaton of Adrian, Michigan, veered off the right side of the roadway. Multiple agencies, including the Tipp City Police Department, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and the Miami County Coroner’s Office, assisted at the scene.
Authorities reported that Deaton’s semi initially struck a disabled vehicle before continuing off the road and colliding with a concrete wall and a residential storage shed. The impact caused significant damage to the structures, and the truck ultimately came to a stop in an open waterway. Despite rapid response efforts from Tipp City Fire & EMS, Deaton succumbed to his injuries at the scene and was pronounced deceased by the Miami County Coroner’s Office. Emergency crews successfully contained a diesel fuel leak from the semi, preventing it from contaminating the storm sewer system. The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this accident.
Our deepest condolences go out to the loved ones of the victim during this difficult time.
