Wayne Co, MI – Injury Crash on SB I-75 at 8 Mile Rd Blocks Left Ln

Wayne Co, MI (May 1, 2025) – A vehicle crash with injuries occurred early Thursday morning on the southbound lanes of I-75 at 8 Mile Rd in Wayne County, causing the closure of the left lane and shoulder and significant delays during rush hour.

The accident was reported at approximately 6:16 a.m., according to Michigan State Police. Preliminary details indicate that two vehicles collided in the left lane near the 8 Mile Rd interchange, forcing one vehicle against the median barrier. Emergency responders from Wayne County EMS and the Detroit Fire Department quickly arrived at the scene. Firefighters assisted in stabilizing the vehicles and cleaning up spilled fluids, while paramedics provided treatment to an injured driver.

One adult victim sustained moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to Henry Ford Hospital for further care. Authorities temporarily diverted traffic while tow crews worked to clear the scene. All lanes were reopened later in the morning. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and no citations have been issued at this time.
