Weston, FL – Seven Injured in I-75 Crash Involving Dump Truck and Honda near the Glades Pkwy
Weston, FL (August 14, 2023) – A significant accident occurred on Monday morning, August 14th, along Interstate 75 in Weston, resulting in seven individuals sustaining injuries.
The incident unfolded within the southbound lanes of the highway, near the Glades Parkway vicinity. Multiple law enforcement vehicles and a fire rescue truck were present.
The collision involved two vehicles – a dump truck and a Honda. The Honda, occupied by a group of six, flipped over on an embankment before coming to rest on its side. Responders observed indications of entrapment and potential ejection.
Meanwhile, the dump truck traveled down the embankment, crossing State Road 84 eastbound, and ultimately collided with a concrete power pole on the opposite side of the road.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesperson Michael Kane confirmed that seven individuals were hurt, including two children.
Following their arrival at Broward Health Medical Center, two individuals were promptly taken into surgery. Notably, the Florida Highway Patrol verified that two persons were in critical condition, while the remainder were deemed stable.
The Florida Highway Patrol’s report indicated that a Honda and a dump truck were traveling southbound on I-75 at Glades Parkway. For reasons currently under investigation, the vehicles breached the guardrail, causing a street light to fall.
